Metro Bus Service Changes: September 13, 2026

Metro will make changes to the following routes starting Sunday, September 13, 2026:

• DC: D10, D1X
• Maryland: M42, M44, P31, P63*, P72*, P73
• Virginia: A58, A76

*Schedule adjustment only.

Other changes:

District of Columbia

D10 Pennsylvania Av

• The National Mall summer detour will end when roads reopen following America’s 250th birthday and Formula One Freedom 250 Grand Prix events.
• Buses will operate via 4th St between Pennsylvania Av NW and Independence Av SW across the National Mall.

D1X Pennsylvania Av Limited

• The National Mall summer detour will end when roads reopen following America’s 250th birthday and Formula One Freedom 250 Grand Prix events.
• Buses will operate via 7th St between Pennsylvania Av NW and Independence Av SW across the National Mall.

Maryland

M42, M44 Randolph Rd

• The Red Line summer shutdown detour at North Bethesda will become permanent.  West to North Bethesda, buses will operate via Citadel Av between Nicholson Ln and Marinelli Rd.
• At North Bethesda Station, buses will serve the stop on westbound Marinelli Rd at Rockville Pike, stop 2001176.  The stop on Citadel Av at Old Georgetown Rd will no longer be served by the routes.

P31 New Carrollton-Takoma Langley

• West to Takoma Langley, buses will remain on University Blvd between 15th Av and Takoma Langley Crossroads Transit Center.  A new stop will be added on University Blvd at 14th Av, stop 3002173.  Stops along 15th Av, Kanawha St, and 14th Av will no longer be served by the route.
• East to New Carrollton, buses will exit the transit center directly to New Hampshire Av.  The stop on Lebanon St at University Blvd will no longer be served by the route.

P73 Central Av-Trade Zone

• The route will change to serve South Lake Marketplace in Bowie via Marketplace Blvd.  East to Trade Zone Av, buses will operate via Marketplace Blvd and Prince George’s Blvd from Crain Hwy (US-301).  West to Largo, buses will operate via Prince George’s Blvd and Marketplace Blvd from Trade Zone Av.
• New stops will be added on Marketplace Blvd near Prince George’s Blvd (near Giant Food) and along Prince George’s Blvd between Marketplace Blvd and Trade Zone Av.
• The route will begin and end on northbound Prince George’s Blvd north of Trade Zone Av.  The stop on Trade Zone Av at Prince George’s Blvd will no longer be served.

Virginia

A58 Wilson Blvd-Farragut Sq

• The eastbound route will operate on a long-term detour west of Clarendon to accommodate Arlington County’s Wilson Blvd Streetscape Improvement Project.
• East to Farragut Sq, buses will remain on eastbound Washington Blvd to eastbound Clarendon Blvd.  A new stop will be added on Washington Blvd + 13th St North, stop 6000590.

A76 Carlin Springs Rd

• The route will operate on a long-term detour west of Clarendon to accommodate Arlington County’s Wilson Blvd Streetscape Improvement Project.
• North to Rosslyn, buses will operate via North Kirkwood Rd and Washington Blvd between eastbound Fairfax Dr and 10th St North.  New stops will be added along Washington Blvd at 13th St North, stop 6000590, and at North Hudson St, stop 6001455.  The stop on 10th St North at North Highland St will no longer be served.  South to Mark Center, buses will operate via Washington Blvd and North Kirkwood Rd between westbound 10th St North and Fairfax Dr.  A new stop will be added on Washington Blvd + Clarendon Blvd, stop 6001456.
