Canopy and Stairway Project

On November 17, 2025, Metro began Phase 4 to install the canopy above the station escalators at U Street Station.
Three escalators at Entrance C (9th St, L’Enfant Plaza) are being replaced. Expected completion is August 2026. During construction, one escalator will be closed at a time. All entrances and the elevator are open.
On April 21, 2026, the middle lane of the Kiss and Ride area in the Anacostia Metro Station parking garage will be closed for inspections conducted by the DC Water and Sewer Authority.
