Reduced fare programs

If you qualify for one of Metro's reduced fare programs, you get 50% off the cost of riding bus or rail.

Seniors

People 65 and older can get a Senior Smart Trip card. 

People with disabilities

People with disabilities can get a Reduced Fare Disability photo ID which works as a Smart Trip card. Learn more about qualifying and how to apply.

Students

Many students and young people can ride free, using a Smart Trip card from their school. 

SNAP recipients

If you receive SNAP benefits in D.C., Maryland, or Virginia, you qualify for Metro Lift.
