Metro advises customers of MTA’s Purple Line construction impacts to Park & Ride Lot on Ellin Road at New Carrollton Station

Metro is advising customer the Park & Ride Lot on Ellin Road at New Carrollton Station will be permanently reconfigured as construction of the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA)’s Purple Line project advances. The section of the parking lot customers previously used permanently closed this week and a new section of the newly configured parking lot opened. The new lot is accessible by a new parking entrance farther north on Ellin Road immediately adjacent to the old lot.

All accessible and reserved parking spaces have been relocated to the new parking area and a new sidewalk has been reconstructed for customers to access the Metro station entrance. As part of this reconfiguration, additional parking spaces have been constructed to increase parking for customers at the station.

This Park & Ride Lot reconfiguration is necessary to build the future Purple Line Station on Ellin Road adjacent to the New Carrollton parking lot. at New Carrollton. Once the parking lot is reconfigured, the Purple Line project will construct a new Kiss & Ride Lot in the closed parking area, and begin building a new, larger bus loop at the station.
