Metro improves service on popular routes in DC, effective Sunday, Dec. 11

Additional changes to routes in Maryland, Virginia

Metrobus customers will see an increase in service to reduce crowding and improve reliability on some of the busiest lines in the District, beginning on Sunday, December 11. The changes are among improvements to 29 routes, including the extension of late-night Q Line service in Maryland, and adding a stop on the 18G northbound to the Pentagon.

“Improving frequency and reliability is part of our ongoing efforts to provide the best customer experience possible,” said Metro Senior Vice President of Bus Services Leroy Jones. “We recognize that every minute matters in the lives of our customers and it’s important that our service is dependable and meets their needs.”

The changes were made possible through additional hiring to address a shortage of bus drivers impacting reliability. Over the past year, Metro has been heavily recruiting new drivers to help close the gap. The campaign includes an incentive of up to $5,000 for bus drivers after completing the 10-week training period. This allowed #YourMetro to improve service and capacity on routes across the region to better serve customers.

Beginning, Dec. 11, schedule adjustments and other service changes will take effect on the following routes:
