Summary of weekend service adjustments for Saturday, August 20 through Sunday, August 21:

During the weekend of Saturday, August 20 through Sunday, August 21, Metrorail will open at 7 a.m., closing at 1 a.m. Saturday and midnight Sunday. Trains will serve 85 of 91 stations, with scheduled service adjustments on the Red Line and normal or near normal service frequencies on all other lines. 

Please note that five stations on the Orange Line between Stadium-Armory and New Carrollton are closed through Labor Day, Sept. 5 for the Platform Improvement Project.

Highlights:

Red Line Trains every 16 minutes. Single tracking between Union Station and Rhode Island Ave.

Blue Line Silver Line Trains every 20 minutes.

Orange Line Trains every 10 minutes, operating between Vienna and Ballston only. Transfer to/from Silver line to continue trip. New Carrollton, Landover, Cheverly, Deanwood and Minnesota Ave closed. Free shuttle buses provided.

Yellow Line Trains every 20 minutes, operating between Huntington and Reagan National Airport only. Transfer to/from Blue Line to continue trip. Use Green Line between Greenbelt and L'Enfant Plaza.

Green Line Trains every 15 minutes. Single tracking between L'Enfant Plaza and Navy Yard. 

Customers are advised that masks are now optional on Metrorail, Metrobus, MetroAccess and in Metro stations and facilities.

Red Line Red Line

  • Trains every 16 minutes. 
  • Due to crosstie renewal:
    • Single tracking between Union Station and Rhode Island Ave.

Blue Line  Blue Line

  • Trains every 20 minutes.

Orange Line Orange Line 

  • Trains every 10 minutes.
  • Due to Platform Improvement Project:
    • Trains operate between Vienna and Ballston only.
    • Transfer to/from Silver Line to continue trip.
    • No train service between Stadium-Armory and New Carrollton through September 5.
    • New Carrollton, Landover, Cheverly, Deanwood and Minnesota Ave stations closed.
    • Free shuttle buses will operate as follows: 
    • Local service
      • Local shuttle between New Carrollton, Landover, Cheverly, Deanwood, Minnesota Ave & Stadium-Armory.
      • Local service operates every 15-20 minutes, 7 days a week during hours the rail system is open.

    • Express Service
      • Express 1 with limited stops at New Carrollton, Landover & Stadium-Armory. 
      • Express 2 with limited stops at Deanwood, Minnesota Ave & Stadium-Armory.
      • Express service operates every 10-15 minutes, 7 days a week during hours the rail system is open.

  • Due to prep work for the Yellow Line Tunnel and Bridge Rehabilitation Project: 
    • Trains operate between Huntington and Reagan National Airport only.
    • Transfer to/from Blue Line to continue trip.
    • Customers traveling between L'Enfant Plaza and Greenbelt, should use Green Line instead.
Green Line Green Line

  • Trains every 15 minutes. 
  • Due to prep work outside L'Enfant Plaza for Tunnel Rehabilitation Project:
    • Single tracking between L'Enfant Plaza and Navy Yard.
