Metrorail weekday service for Monday, August 15 through Friday, August 19

Advisory Effective: 8/15/22 - 8/19/22

During the week of Monday, August 15 through Friday, August 19, Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. and close at midnight Monday-Thursday and 1 a.m. on Friday. Trains will run normal or near normal service frequencies on all lines during daytime and evening hours, serving 86 of 91 stations. 

Please note that the following Orange Line stations will be closed through September 5, for the summer Platform Improvement Project: New Carrollton, Landover, Cheverly, Deanwood and Minnesota Ave. Weekday train service will operate between Vienna and Stadium-Armory only. Free shuttle bus service provided.

Highlights

Red Line Normal service until 9 p.m., trains every 10 minutes. Monday-Thursday, after 10 p.m., single tracking between Union Station and Rhode Island Ave.

Blue Line Silver Line Normal service, trains every 15-20 minutes. 

Orange Line Normal service, trains every 15-20 minutes, operating between Vienna and Stadium-Armory only. New Carrollton, Landover, Cheverly, Deanwood and Minnesota Ave stations closed for the Platform Improvement Project. Free shuttle buses provided. 

Yellow Line Normal service, trains every 15 minutes. 

Green Line Normal or near normal service, trains every 15-18 minutes. Between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. single tracking between Branch Ave and Naylor Rd.

Customers are welcome to wear masks; however they are no longer required on Metrorail, Metrobus and MetroAccess.

Red Line Red Line

Monday-Thursday: Trains every 10 minutes, transitioning beginning at 9 p.m. to every 16 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont.
Friday: Trains every 10 minutes from opening until close.

  • Monday - Thursday, due to tie renewal:
    • After 10 p.m., single tracking between Union Station and Rhode Island Ave. 

Blue Line Blue Line

Trains every 15 minutes from opening until 9 p.m., transitioning to every 20 minutes until close.

Orange Line Orange Line

Trains every 15 minutes from opening until 9 p.m., transitioning to every 20 minutes until close.

  • Due to Platform Improvement Project:
    • Trains operate between Vienna and Stadium-Armory only. New Carrollton, Landover, Cheverly, Deanwood and Minnesota Ave stations closed.

    • Local Service
      • Local shuttle between New Carrollton, Landover, Cheverly, Deanwood, Minnesota Ave & Stadium-Armory.
      • Local service operates every 15-20 minutes, 7 days a week during hours the rail system is open.

    • Express Service
      • Express 1 with limited stops at New Carrollton, Landover & Stadium-Armory.
      • Express 2 with limited stops at Deanwood, Minnesota Ave & Stadium-Armory.
      • Express service operates every 10-15 minutes, 7 days a week during hours the rail system is open.

Trains every 15 minutes from opening until 9 p.m., transitioning to every 20 minutes until close.

Trains every 15 minutes all times, except between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. when trains will operate every 18 minutes.

    • From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., single tracking between Branch and Naylor Rd.
