Temporary Detour: Purple Line Construction December 2025

Advisory Effective: 12/1/25 - 12/4/25

Monday, December 1, 2025 | Thursday, December 4, 2025 

Routes Affected: P14, P31, P35 

Beginning on Monday, December 1, from 8:30pm until Thursday, December 4, at 5:30am, buses will detour because of the Purple Line Construction. Please allow additional travel time and avoid the area if possible.

Street Closure: 

• Intersection of Kenilworth Ave and East–West Hwy 

The following routes will detour:  

P14 Kenilworth Ave northbound towards Greenbelt 

• Buses begin detouring on Kenilworth Ave at Riverdale Rd, resuming regular route on Kenilworth Ave at Rittenhouse St.  

P14 Kenilworth Ave southbound towards Deanwood 

• Buses begin detouring on Kenilworth Ave at East–West Hwy, resuming regular route on Kenilworth Ave at Nicholson St.  

P31 New Carrollton–Takoma Langley eastbound towards New Carrollton 

• Buses begin detouring on Kenilworth Ave at East–West Hwy, resuming regular route on Riverdale Rd at 57th Ave. 

P31 New Carrollton–Takoma Langley westbound towards Takoma Langley 

• Buses begin detouring on Riverdale Rd at 58th Ave, resuming regular route on Kenilworth Ave at Quintana St.  

P35 New Carrollton–Fort Totten eastbound towards New Carrollton 

• Buses begin detouring on Riverdale Rd at Kenilworth Ave, resuming regular route on Kenilworth Ave at Quintana St. 

P35 New Carrollton–Fort Totten westbound towards Fort Totten 

• Buses begin detouring on Kenilworth Ave at East–West Hwy, resuming regular route on Riverdale Rd at 48th Ave.
