Metrobus will detour in Downtown DC due to ongoing First Amendment activities. There is a potential for changes to street closures based upon public safety. Sign up for metroAlerts to receive updates or changes to your route. Customers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow additional travel time and transfer to the nearest Metrorail station.
The following routes will detour or cut back service:
5A DC-Dulles
- Buses will operate between Dulles Airport and Rosslyn Metrorail station.
7Y Lincolnia-North Fairlington
- Buses will operate between Southern Towers and the Pentagon Transit Center.
16E Columbia Pike
- Buses will operate between Culmore and the Pentagon Transit Center.
30N, 30S Pennsylvania Avenue (two segments)
- Buses will operate between Friendship Heights Metrorail station and a bus stop located on Pennsylvania Ave NW at 26th St (stop ID# 1001299).
- Buses will operate between Naylor Rd/Southern Ave Metrorail stations and a bus stop located on Pennsylvania Ave SE at North Carolina Ave (stop ID# 1000691).
32, 36 Pennsylvania Avenue
- Buses will operate between Southern Ave/Naylor Rd Metrorail stations and a bus stop located on Pennsylvania Ave SE at North Carolina Ave (stop ID #1000691).
33 Wisconsin Avenue
- Buses will operate between Friendship Heights Metrorail station and a bus stop located on Pennsylvania Ave NW at 26th St (stop ID# 1001299).
38B Ballston-Farragut Square
- Buses will operate between Ballston-MU Metrorail station and a bus stop located on Pennsylvania Ave NW at L St (stop ID# 1003226).
42, 43 Mount Pleasant
- Buses will operate between Mount Pleasant and a bus stop located on Connecticut Ave NW at S St (stop ID# 1001592).

Customers are required to wear face coverings on Metrobus. Face coverings may include bandanas, scarves, neck gaiters or homemade coverings easily made from t-shirts and other materials at minimal cost.
