Operator Shortage Impacting Metrobus Service

Advisory Effective: 1/24/22 - 1/24/22

Metrobus service is currently being impacted by a pandemic-related bus operator shortage. While buses are operating the majority of scheduled trips, some routes are operating with fewer buses particularly during peak rush hour periods. As a result, customers on some routes may experience longer than usual wait times due to reduced frequency of service or canceled trips. These cuts have been spread over a large number of routes; however, represent a small percentage of the more than 13,000 trips scheduled on weekdays.

We will continue to update our customers on the status of service as soon as we are able to. We ask for your patience and encourage customers to plan ahead and allow additional travel time.

Here are some tips for planning your trip:

  • Sign up for Metro Alerts to learn when your trip will be impacted
  • Visit this page to see a list of routes that may be delayed or cancelled.
  • Follow Metrobus on Twitter - @metrobusinfo
  • Visit wmata.com/alerts
  • Plan an alternate route to your destination using trip planner.
