Metrobus Service Changes Beginning March 14, 2021
Advisory Effective: 3/14/21 - 5/1/21
Effective Sunday, March 14, 2021, changes will be implemented on 59 Metrobus routes serving the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance. Additional trips will be added to selected routes to reduce crowding. As of January 4, 2021, Routes S80 and S91(TAGS) are being operated by Fairfax Connector. The new Connector service is named 350/TAGS and 351/TAGS. Visit wmata.com to view new schedule information.

- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance. The 54 will have additional trips to reduce crowding.
70 Georgia Avenue-7th Street
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance.
79 Georgia Avenue Limited
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance.
80 North Capitol Street
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance.
90, 92 U Street-Garfield
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance. The 92 will have additional trips to reduce crowding.
96 East Capitol Street-Cardozo
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance. The rerouting of eastbound trips via southbound New Jersey Avenue between 3rd Street and Massachusetts Avenue will be made permanent.
B2 Bladensburg Road- Anacostia
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance.
D2 Glover Park-DuPont Circle
- Weekend service will resume
D6 Sibley Hospital-Stadium Armory
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance.
E2 Ivy City-Fort Totten
- Weekend service will resume
G2 P St-LeDroit Park
- Weekend service will resume
H8 Park Road-Brookland
- Weekday service will be restored to the pre-pandemic levels provided in December 2019.
M6 Fairfax Village
- Weekend service will resume
P6 Anacostia-Eckington
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance.
S2 16th Street
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance. The permanent routing will change due to the closure of 16th Street south of K Street NW, which is expected to be long-term or permanent. In the southbound direction, the S2 will use K Street NW between 16th and 11th Streets NW. In the northbound direction, the S2 will use 15th and K Streets NW between I and 16th Streets NW. Bus stops in this area will change to reflect the new routing.
S9 16th Street Limited
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance. The permanent routing will be changed due to the closure of 16th Street south of K Street NW. In the southbound direction, service will remain unchanged. In the northbound direction, the route will use 15th and K Streets NW between I and 16th Streets NW. Route S9 will no longer serve stop #1002910, 16th and I Streets NW northbound. Route S9 will begin serving stop #1001244, K and 15th Streets NW westbound.
U5, U6 Marshall Heights
- Weekday service will be restored to the pre-pandemic levels provided in December 2019.
V7, V8 Benning Heights-Alabama Avenue
- Weekday service will be restored to the pre-pandemic levels provided in December 2019.
X2 Benning Road-H Street
- Permanently change the westbound trips to terminate at McPherson Square. The westbound terminal will be changed to 15th St NW (east) at K St NW. Running times will be slightly adjusted for a shortened route. The westbound bus destination sign will be changed to McPherson Square and the bus terminal will be relocated to the east side of McPherson Square
X8 Maryland
- Weekend service will resume
MARYLAND
89M Laurel
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance.
A12 Martin Luther King Jr. Highway
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance.
C2, C4 Greenbelt-Twinbrook
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance. To reduce crowding, short trips will be added to the C2 between Takoma Langley Transit Center and Wheaton.
C14 Hillcrest Heights
- Buses will resume Saturday service
C29 Central Avenue
- Saturday trip times will be changed for overall performance improvements.
D12, D13, D14 Oxon Hill-Suitland
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance.
F4 New Carrollton-Silver Spring
- Short trips between Prince George's Plaza and New Carrollton stations will be added to reduce crowding.
H12 Marlow Heights-Temple Hills
- Sunday service will be added.
NH2 National Harbor-Alexandria
- Saturday and Sunday service will resume.
P12 Eastover-Addison
- Trips will be added to reduce crowding.
R12 Kenilworth Ave
- Saturday service will resume.
T14 Rhode Island Ave-New Carrollton
- Sunday service will resume.
T18 Annapolis Road
- Trips will be added to reduce crowding.
V12 District Heights-Suitland
- Sunday service will resume
Z7 Laurel-Old Columbia Pike Express
- The bus bay at Silver Spring Transit Center will be changed from bay 116 to bay 115.
VIRGINIA
1A Wilson Boulevard-Vienna
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance. Short westbound trips between Ballston and Fairfax Hospital will be added to the afternoon service to reduce crowding.
2B Fair Oaks-Germantown
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance.
10A Alexandria-Pentagon
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance.
16E Columbia Pike
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance. One later trip will be added on Saturday.
22A Barcroft-South Fairlington
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance.
28A Leesburg Pike
- Weekday service will be restored to the pre-pandemic levels provided in December 2019.
38B Ballston-Farragut Square
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on time performance.
Metroway Metroway-Potomac Yard
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance. Earlier weekday trips will be added.
NH2 National Harbor-Alexandria
- Weekend service will resume
REX Richmond Highway Express
- New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions and improve on-time performance. One earlier weekday trip will be added.
TAGS
- Effective on January 4, 2021, the operation of the Transportation Association of Greater Springfield (TAGS) service, routes S80 and S91, were assumed by Fairfax Connector. The new Connector service is named 350/TAGS and 351/TAGS.
