Metrorail weekday service adjustments for Monday, March 22 through Friday, March 26

Advisory Effective: 3/22/21 - 3/26/21

During the week of Monday, March 22 through Friday, March 26, Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. Trains will operate normal weekday service to 89 of 91 stations during the daytime and early evening, with scheduled service adjustments on the Red (Thursday only), Green and Yellow lines after 10 p.m.

Due to the Platform Improvement Project, customers are advised Arlington Cemetery and Addison Rd stations will be closed with no Blue Line service through May 23. Additional Yellow Line service will operate between Franconia-Springfield and Mt Vernon Sq/National Airport. Free shuttle buses will be provided to/from the closed stations.

Weeknights

Red Line Trains every 6-15 minutes (6-18 minutes Thursday only).

Blue Line No Blue Line service. Arlington Cemetery closed.

Orange Line Trains every 12-20 minutes. 

Silver Line Trains every 12-20 minutes. Addison Rd closed.

Yellow Line Trains every 12-20 minutes operating in two segments: Huntington - Greenbelt and Franconia-Springfield - Mt Vernon Sq/National Airport  

Green Line Trains every 12-20 minutes. 

Under federal law and for your safety and the safety of others, customers are required to wear face masks while traveling on Metro. 

Red Line Red Line

Weeknights: Regular intervals, trains every 6-15 minutes. (except Thursday)

  • Thursday, March 25, only. After 10 p.m. due to leak mitigation:
    • Single tracking between Medical Center and Grosvenor-Strathmore.
    • Trains every 18 minutes until closing.
Blue Line Blue Line

No service; Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn St will be served by additional Yellow Line service operating between Franconia-Springfield and Mt Vernon Sq/National Airport.

  • Arlington Cemetery Station closed through May 23, due to Platform Improvement Project. Free shuttle buses provided between Rosslyn, Arlington Cemetery and Pentagon. (Shuttle bus does not stop at Arlington Cemetery after 7 p.m.)
  • Shuttle bus service may be adjusted in the event of inclement weather. Check wmata.com for service updates.
Orange Line Orange Line

Weeknights: Regular intervals, trains every 12-20 minutes.

Silver Line Silver Line

Weeknights: Regular intervals, trains every 12-20 minutes.

  • Addison Rd Station closed through May 23, due to Platform Improvement Project. Trains will pass through the station without stopping. Free shuttle buses provided between Addison Rd and Capitol Heights. 
Yellow Line Yellow Line

Weeknights: Regular intervals, trains every 12-20 minutes.

  • Trains will operate between Huntington and Greenbelt, with additional Yellow Line service between Franconia-Springfield and Mt Vernon Sq/National Airport due to the Platform Improvement Project. 

  • Beginning at approximately 10 p.m., due to fastener renewal:
    • Single tracking between L'Enfant Plaza and Mt Vernon Sq.
    • Trains originating from Franconia-Springfield will operate to/from National Airport only through closing. (Service adjustment may begin as early as 9 p.m.)
Green Line Green Line

Weeknights: Regular intervals, trains every 12-20 minutes.

  • Beginning at approximately 10 p.m., due to fastener renewal:
    • Single tracking between L'Enfant Plaza and Mt Vernon Sq
