Mt. Vernon Sq Elevator Rehabilitation

Mt. Vernon Sq Elevator Rehabilitation

Advisory Effective: 9/2/22 - 12/5/22

On September 12, 2022, Metro will begin rehabilitating the elevator at the north entrance to Mt. Vernon Sq Station. The work will take approximately three months to complete and the elevator will be out of service during that time.

This project will improve reliability by replacing and upgrading all major components of the elevator, including a new passenger cab, controls, motors, and safety devices. This is part of Metro’s regular elevator maintenance program, which includes monthly and annual maintenance on all 322 elevators and major rehabilitation work every 10-15 years.

How will this affect my trip?

The elevator on the north side of M St will be closed for the duration of the rehabilitation work. The elevator at the south entrance, across M St, will remain open throughout construction.

How long will the project take?

Approximately three months.
