Metro Holiday Service Information 2020

Advisory Effective: 12/24/20 - 1/2/21

Below is a summary of Metrorail, Metrobus and MetroAccess service during the holiday season. Customers should be mindful of scheduled track work on the Blue Line. Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn St. Stations will be closed, with free shuttle buses available.

New Year's Eve and New Year's Day

Thursday, December 31 (New Year's Eve)

  • Metrorail system will operate 5 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on a regular weekday schedule
  • Metrobus will operate on a regular schedule
  • MetroAccess subscription trips will be cancelled
  • Regular fares and parking fees will be in effect
Friday, January 1 (New Year's Day)

  • Metrorail system will operate 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. on a Sunday schedule
  • Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule
  • MetroAccess subscription trips will be cancelled
  • Off-peak fares will be in effect all day and parking will be free at all Metro-operated facilities
  • Blue Line express shuttles will not operate

Blue Line shutdown continues

Customers are reminded of the two-week Blue Line shutdown through Sunday, January 3. Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn St stations are closed. Blue Line train service will operate between Huntington and Largo Town Center.

Express shuttle buses between Pentagon and Van Dorn St/Franconia-Springfield will not operate on New Year’s Day.
