Grosvenor-Strathmore Station Elevator Rehabilitation

Grosvenor-Strathmore Station Elevator Rehabilitation

Advisory Effective: 9/2/22 - 12/23/22

On September 6, 2022, Metro will begin rehabilitating the elevator at Grosvenor-Strathmore Station. The work will take approximately four months to complete and the elevator will be out of service during that time.

This project will improve reliability by replacing and upgrading all major components of the elevator, including a new passenger cab, controls, motors, and safety devices. This is part of Metro’s regular escalator maintenance program, which includes monthly and annual maintenance on all 322 elevators and major rehabilitation work every 10-15 years.

How will this affect my trip?

The station elevator will be closed for the duration of the rehabilitation work. Free shuttle bus service will be provided between Grosvenor-Strathmore and Medical Center stations. The shuttle stop will be located at Bus Bay F at both stations.

The shuttles will be available thirty minutes before normal Metrorail operating hours and one hour after. The shuttles will operate every 15 minutes during peak hours and every 20 minutes during off-peak hours.

How long will the project take?

Approximately three months.
