Parking will be free at Franconia-Springfield, Huntington and Van Dorn Street stations during this summer’s Platform Improvement Project, from Saturday, May 25 through Sunday, September 8, 2019.

Six stations will be closed during construction, but Metro parking lots and garages will remain open so you can take advantage of the various alternative travel alternatives available, including Metro’s extensive network of free shuttle buses, VRE and carpooling. The other three stations impacted by the summer project (Eisenhower Ave, King St-Old Town, and Braddock Road) do not have Metro parking facilities.

As you may already know, Metro is providing free shuttle bus service and adding extra service to local bus routes to help you get around during the construction. Click here to find the best travel option for you.

In addition, Metro’s regional partners - including Alexandria, Arlington County and Fairfax County - are developing additional mitigation strategies for summer 2019.

We appreciate your patience during this important project, which will ultimately rebuild platforms at 20 Metrorail stations over the next three years. This is one of many initiatives funded by Metro’s 10-year, $15 billion capital program – to invest in system safety, reliability and the region’s economy.
