Metro seeks to improve Huntington-Pentagon Express after first week of shuttle service
Published: Sunday, June 2, 2019
Beginning Monday, June 3, Metro will adjust the Huntington-Pentagon Express shuttle to improve the customer experience and reduce travel time and crowding. During peak service periods, the Huntington-Pentagon Express will depart directly for Pentagon Station from both the south and north sides of Huntington Station, instead of serving both sides of the station as it did the first week of the shutdown.
With separate routes established from each side of Huntington Station, customers on the north (lower) side will benefit from reduced crowding on buses and customers on the south (upper) side will experience shorter travel times.
For customers traveling at Pentagon Station traveling to Huntington Station during peak periods, Metro staff will be on site to ensure customers board separate Express shuttles destined for the north and south sides of Huntington Station. In the event a customer needs to travel from one side of Huntington Station to the other, the free local Yellow Line shuttle will continue to connect the two sides of the station.
Bus stop relocation at Huntington (north)
Also beginning on Monday, Metro will adjust the bus stops for several routes that serve the north side of Huntington Station to improve on-time performance and traffic flow.
Finally, on Thursday, the Huntington-Pentagon Express stop on the north side of the station will move to bus stop G/H on Huntington Avenue and Fairfax Connector 171 will move to Bus Bay E. With these changes in place, Metro expects improved traffic flow in the bus loop and faster service for the Express shuttle.
