Vienna | Dunn Loring | West Falls Church | East Falls Church

This week, we’re featuring West Falls Church Station in our #ThrowbackThursday series. The station will reopen in 10 days, several weeks earlier than originally planned!

The station’s opening in 1986, along with East Falls Church, Dunn Loring and Vienna, extended Metrorail service into Fairfax County to accommodate the county’s growing population, which had more than quadrupled in size between 1950 and 1970. Up until the Silver Line opened in 2015, West Falls Church was consistently near the top of the list of stations with the highest weekday ridership.

West Falls Church and five Silver Line stations will reopen on Sunday, August 16.
