Bicycle Safety

At all times cyclists must abide by the instructions and directives of Metrorail Station Managers, Metro Train Operators, Metrobus Operators, Metro Transit Police or city/county police and fire officials.

Safety and Security

Metro encourages cyclists to register their bikes with the Metro Transit Police to increase their chances of having a bike returned if it is stolen.  Simply complete the online form to register your bike. If you experience theft or vandalism, please report it to the Metro Transit Police at 202-962-2121.

Using a Bicycle Rack

Metro owns and operates about 2,400 bicycle racks systemwide, and is replacing older racks with new inverted-U racks.
