Western Bus Garage Replacement Project

The Western Bus Garage Replacement Project aims to create a safer, modern, LEED-certified bus operations and maintenance facility in Northwest Washington, DC to help invigorate and drive the important redevelopment efforts already underway in the area.
The existing Western Bus Garage, located at 5230 Wisconsin Avenue NW and built in 1936, has reached the end of its lifespan. The facility is becoming increasingly costly to maintain and sustain operations and cannot support Metro's transition to zero-emission buses.
The proposed new garage will:
- Increase operational efficiency for the bus fleet by providing accessible bus parking spaces
- Accommodate bus infrastructure, consistent with Metro's zero-emission bus plan
- Continue to provide space for maintenance activities, bus storage, and other operational necessities to efficiently serve customers in Northwest DC
Additional information about this project will be available later this year.
