MDOT MTA Purple Line Construction

The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) Purple Line is a 16-mile light rail line that will extend from Bethesda in Montgomery County to New Carrollton in Prince George's County. The Purple Line will provide customers with a direct connection to Metro at Bethesda, Silver Spring, College Park, and New Carrollton, and local bus service at Takoma Langley Crossroads Transit Center. Once complete, the project will enhance access, provide more reliable and convenient travel options, and increase connectivity in the region.

While the Purple Line is a project owned and managed by MDOT MTA, Metro is working closely with the project team and other regional partners to minimize construction impacts to our customers, which is expected to last through 2026.
