WMATA's Art in Transit joined the Poetry in Motion® program in 2021. Launched by MTA New York City Transit and the Poetry Society of America in 1992, the program places poetry in the transit systems of cities throughout the country exposing it to millions of viewers every day.

For Poetry in Motion®, Art in Transit created digital animations and printed versions for poems selected by the Poetry Society of America. They are presented on digital displays at the following stations - Crystal City, Farragut North, NoMa-Gallaudet, Gallery Place-Chinatown, L'Enfant Plaza, and Metro Center - and the printed cards are placed in buses throughout the Metrobus system.
