Implementation of New Policies to Ensure Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act

On March 6, 2017, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, WMATA agreed to a mutually acceptable resolution with the U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ) to take a series of steps when considering whether an applicant with a disability can safely perform essential functions of a job. These steps include the implementation of new policies and the training of hiring managers that will ensure the safeguarding of rights for all individuals with disabilities who seek employment with WMATA.

Over the next 24 months, The Office of Fair Practice will manage the implementation of all requirements called for by the agreement with USDOJ. This agreement with USDOJ, otherwise known as a Consent Decree, can be accessed by following the link below. If you should have any questions or would like further information regarding this agreement, contact Ms. Ada Posey, Manager of Workforce Diversity and Policy Compliance via email at alposey@wmata.com or at (202) 962-2328.
