Metro has begun installing new ads inside rail cars and buses to remind riders to keep priority seats available for people with disabilities, pregnant women and senior citizens.

The ads were created with input from Metro's Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC), which represents the needs of senior citizens and people with disabilities.

The ads are meant to encourage customers to be courteous by keeping priority seats available for people who may need them. Because many disabilities are not visible, the AAC requested ads that stress the importance of making the priority seats available upon request without challenging the person asking.Ad

Priority seating is located near the center doors of each Metrorail car and near the front door of Metrobuses. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), public transit authorities are required to make priority seating available for people with disabilities and senior citizens.
