Metrobus service changes in Virginia begin September 24

Service changes on Metrobus will be implemented on 14 lines in Virginia beginning September 24. The changes are in response to customer requests and will improve service reliability and improve transfer connections between buses and trains. Some late night and weekend service will be discontinued due to low numbers of riders. Cost savings associated with the elimination of some routes will be reinvested on other Metrobus routes to improve service reliability and reduce crowding.

In addition, Metrobus will run regular weekday service on Columbus Day, Veterans Day (observed), Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents Day.

1F Wilson Boulevard-Fairfax Line
The 5:26 a.m. eastbound bus from Seven Corners will begin at Fairfax Circle at 5 a.m.

The following bus service will be discontinued: Saturday night buses from Ballston-MU station at 1:30, 2, 2:30 and 3:30 a.m.

2A Washington Boulevard Line
The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday and Saturday night buses from Ballston-MU station at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 a.m.

3E Lee Highway Line
The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday and Saturday night buses from Rosslyn station at 1:20, 2:20 and 3:20 a.m.

4B, 4H, 4S Pershing Drive-Arlington Boulevard Line
The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday night buses from Rosslyn station at 1:20, 2:20 and 3:20 a.m. and weekday 4S service on Sleepy Hollow Road between Columbia Pike and Seven Corners.

4S service between Seven Corners and Rosslyn station will be retained and renamed 4H. Bus times will not change.

7A Lincolnia-North Fairlington Line
A new weekday northbound bus will leave Lincolnia Road and Quantrell Avenue at  5:20 a.m. Buses will run every 45 minutes on Sundays between 7:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. Also on Sundays, buses will leave Pentagon station at 8:15 a.m., and Lincolnia Road and Quantrell Avenue at 8:43 a.m. On Sunday nights, buses will leave Pentagon station at 8:55, 10 and 11:05 p.m. and 12:10 a.m., and Lincolnia Road and Quantrell Avenue at 9:22, 10:25 and 11:30 p.m. and 12:34 a.m.

9A Huntington-Pentagon Line
The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday and Saturday night buses from Pentagon station at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 a.m.

10A Hunting Towers-Pentagon Line
The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday and Saturday night buses from Pentagon station at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 a.m.

10B Hunting Towers-Ballston Line
The bus that leaves Hunting Towers at 12:30 a.m. on Friday nights will run every weeknight.

The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday and Saturday night buses from Ballston-MU station at 1:40, 2:30 and 3:30 a.m., and Hunting Towers at 1:30 a.m.

13A, 13B, 13F, 13G Reagan Washington National Airport-Pentagon-Washington Line
The following bus service will be discontinued: Weekday 13A buses from Pentagon station on between 10:18 a.m. and 2:18 p.m. and after 6:48 p.m.; Saturday 13A, 13B, 13F and 13G buses from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport or Pentagon stations after 7:13 a.m.; and Sunday 13A, 13F and 13G buses that leave Ronald Reagan National Airport or Pentagon stations after 7:06 a.m.

16Y Columbia Pike-Farragut Square Line
Buses will be added to reduce crowding and will run every 10 to 13 minutes between 7:38 and 8:30 a.m. from Barcroft. Buses will leave McPherson Square every 12 to 15 minutes between 4:10 and 5:50 p.m.

23A McLean-Crystal City Line
The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday and Saturday night buses from Ballston-MU station to Crystal City at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 a.m.

24P Ballston-Pentagon Line
Saturday service will be discontinued. Arlington Transit (ART) Route 42 will replace service.

38B Ballston-Farragut Square Line
On weekdays, a new eastbound bus will leave Ballston-MU station at 6:10 a.m.
The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday night buses from Ballston-MU at 1:30 and 2:34 a.m., and Farragut Square at 2:01 and 3:02 a.m.; and Saturday night buses from Ballston-MU at 1:30 and 2:35 a.m., and Farragut Square at 2 and 3:06 a.m.

REX Richmond Highway Express
Customers may get on the bus at Gunston Road and 5th Street (AMC Building) one minute before the bus arrives at the Jackson Loop terminal to begin northbound trips that will leave between 5:12 and 6:12 a.m., 10:05 and 10:35 a.m., and 3:45 and 4:15 p.m.

In addition, schedules will change on the following routes to reflect current traffic conditions and to improve service reliability (bus times will change slightly): 16B, 16E, 16J Columbia Pike Line—Saturday; 29K Alexandria-Fairfax Line—weekday; 38B Ballston-Farragut Square Line—weekday (midday and afternoon rush hours); REX Richmond Highway Express—Saturday and Sunday.
