Metrobus service, fare changes begin June 28


24 bus lines to see changes, some routes discontinued

Service and fare changes on select Metrobus lines in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia will begin on Sunday, June 28.

District of Columbia

B9 Fort Lincoln Shuttle Line
The route will be extended to serve the new Wesley House Senior Citizen Residence via Commodore Joshua Barney Drive. Bus times will be adjusted by up to three minutes. Buses will follow the current routing to Fort Lincoln Drive and Commodore Joshua Barney Drive, NE. Buses will turn right on Commodore Joshua Barney Drive, NE, to Wesley House, then continue back to Fort Lincoln Drive where the current route will resume.

Maryland

C7, C9 Greenbelt-Glenmont Line
Service will be discontinued due to low ridership.

J7, J9 I-270 Express Line
Express fare of $3 with SmarTrip® or $3.10 cash will be charged instead of regular fare.

L7 Connecticut Ave-Maryland Line
Service will be discontinued. Ride On Routes 6 and 34 buses provide service between Wheaton and Kensington.

L8 Connecticut Ave-Maryland Line
Rush hour service will be increased with buses operating at more frequent intervals.

W19 Indian Head Express Line
Express fare of $3 with SmarTrip® or $3.10 cash will be charged instead of regular fare.

Z2 Colesville-Ashton Line
Weekday midday service between Colesville and Silver Spring Metrorail station will be discontinued. Weekday rush hour service will continue to operate as currently scheduled. The 8:01 a.m. trip from Silver Spring Metrorail station to Colesville will continue to operate to accommodate students attending Thornton Friends School. Saturday Z2 service between Colesville and Silver Spring Metrorail station, which is operated by Ride On, will not change at this time.

Z6 Calverton-Westfarm Line
Midday trip times will be coordinated with Z8 buses to provide service every 15 minutes between Lockwood Drive and New Hampshire Avenue (White Oak) and Silver Spring Metrorail station.

Z8 Fairland Line
Midday trip times will be coordinated with Z6 buses to provide service every 15 minutes between Lockwood Drive and New Hampshire Avenue (White Oak) and Silver Spring Metrorail station.

Virginia

1B Wilson Boulevard Line
The bus that leaves Dunn-Loring-Merrifield Metrorail station weekdays at 6:35 a.m. will be changed to leave three minutes later, at 6:38 a.m., to make it easier for customers to transfer from the 6:35 a.m. westbound Orange Line train at that station.

10B Hunting Towers-Ballston Line
The bus that leaves Ballston-MU Metrorail station weekdays at 12:45 a.m. will be changed to leave 10 minutes later, at 12:55 a.m., to make it easier for customers to transfer from the last eastbound 23A bus that passes that location at 12:51 a.m.

11Y Mount Vernon Express Line
Southbound buses will be rerouted. Buses will leave Potomac Park and continue the present route to H and 15th streets, NW. Buses will turn right on 15th Street, left on Pennsylvania Avenue and right on 14th Street where the present route will be resumed going to Hunting Towers and Mount Vernon. Bus stops will be eliminated on southbound 14th Street at E, F and G streets, NW. New bus stops will be established on southbound 15th Street at F Street and H Street, and on eastbound Pennsylvania Avenue at 14th Street. Bus times will not change.

15L Chain Bridge Road Line
The eastbound bus from Tysons Corner Center weekdays at 6:25 a.m. will be changed to leave three minutes later, at 6:28 a.m. This change will allow customers more time to transfer from the eastbound 15M Metrobus that arrives at that location at 6:22 a.m.

15M George Mason Univ-Tysons Corner Line
The eastbound bus that leaves George Mason University weekdays at 5:54 a.m. will be changed to leave that location three minutes earlier, at 5:51 a.m. This adjustment will make it easier for customers to transfer at Tysons Corner to the eastbound 15L bus that leaves that location at 6:28 a.m.

16Y Columbia Pike-Farragut Square Line
Eastbound buses that leave Barcroft between 7:16 and 7:54 a.m. will be rescheduled to arrive downtown three minutes earlier than currently scheduled.

21A, B, C, D, F Landmark-Pentagon Line
21A, B and D routes will be changed to operate as a single route, 21A. Buses will leave Reynolds Street every 16 to 21 minutes between 6 and 8:37 a.m. From the Pentagon, buses will leave every 20 minutes between 4 and 7:20 p.m.

Northbound 21A buses will leave Reynolds Street (at entrance to EOS Twenty-One Condominiums) and continue via Reynolds Street, Edsall Road, Whiting Street, Stevenson Avenue, Yoakum Parkway, Edsall Road, Van Dorn Street, Duke Street and I-395 where the current routing to the Pentagon will be resumed.

Southbound 21A buses will follow the current routing from the Pentagon to Duke and Walker streets. Buses will continue via Duke Street, Van Dorn Street, Edsall Road, Yoakum Parkway, Stevenson Avenue, Whiting Street, Edsall Road and Reynolds Street to the terminal at the entrance to the Washington Suites Hotel.

21C and 21F routes will be discontinued due to low ridership.

22B Pentagon-Army Navy Drive-Shirley Park Line
The route will be replaced by Arlington Transit (ART) Route 87.

Virginia bus service changes effective Monday, June 29
Effective Monday, June 29, service on the following Metrobus lines will be replaced by Fairfax Connector routes 466 and 630 through 653:

2W Vienna-Oakton Line
12A, 12E, 12F, 12G Centreville South Line
12C, 12D Centreville North Line
12L, 12 M Little Rocky Run-Vienna Line
12R, 12S Stringfellow Road-Vienna Line
20F, 20W, 20X, 20Y Chantilly-Greenbriar Line

Virginia bus service changes effective Monday, July 6
Effective Monday, July 6, service on the morning and evening rush hour Routes 26E (GEORGE) East Falls Church Shuttle and 26W (GEORGE) West Falls Church Shuttle will be operated by Arlington Transit (ART) for the City of Falls Church. Route 26A (GEORGE) East Falls Church Shuttle midday service will be discontinued.
