Metrobus service changes in the District of Columbia begin June 24

Service changes on Metrobus will be implemented on 13 lines in the District of Columbia beginning June 24. The changes are in response to customer requests and will improve service reliability.

D5 MacArthur Boulevard-Georgetown Line
The afternoon terminal will move to the west side of 17th Street, north of Eye Street (east side of Farragut Square).

42 Mount Pleasant Line
On weekdays, northbound buses that begin at Farragut Square will be changed to leave from the D5 stop at Farragut West Metrorail station on the east side of 17th Street, NW (south of Eye Street). Buses from Metro Center will serve the stop on the north side of Eye Street, NW. After 7:15 p.m. weeknights, all buses will run to and from Metro Center.

52, 53, 54 14th Street Line
Route 53 buses will begin or end at Federal Triangle (10th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW). Route 52 buses also provide alternative service to stops at 12th and D streets, SW or 14th Street and Independence Avenue, SW. Some weekday bus times will change.

90, 92, 93 U Street-Garfield Line
Buses will begin/end at Duke Ellington Bridge instead of McLean Gardens except for selected rush hour buses that will end at 14th and U streets, NW. Weekday midday service will run every seven to eight minutes.

96, 97 East Capitol Street-Cardozo Line
Route 96 buses will be extended to serve McLean Gardens. Buses will run every 18 minutes in the peak hours, every 24 minutes during the midday and every 30 to 32 minutes in the evenings and on weekends. Route 97 buses will run every 11 to 15 minutes in peak hours.

B51 Brookland and Bunker Hill School Line
Service has been discontinued on 6th Place and 7th Street, NE between Buchanan and Webster streets. The 8:15 a.m. bus from 12th Street and South Dakota Avenue, NE will leave at 8:17 a.m.

S2, S4 16th Street Line
Weekday mornings, additional southbound buses will end at McPherson Square. Between 3 and 6:40 p.m., northbound S4 buses will begin at Eye and 13th streets, NW. Some southbound S2 buses (from 14th and Missouri Avenue, NW) will be replaced by S4 buses going to 13th and Eye streets, NW in the afternoon peak hours. Additional buses will run during peak hours. Weekday schedule will change.

Georgia Avenue - 7th Street Line, Routes 70, 71
For two years, buses that use the terminal at the Silver Spring Metrorail station will be rerouted to new stops on local streets in the area between the station and Georgia Avenue due to the construction of the new Silver Spring Transit Center. Minor weekday, Saturday and Sunday trip time adjustments will be made on June 24 in anticipation of this change, which will take place at a date to be determined. The date on which routes will be switched to the new routings will be publicized when the construction dates are finalized.

Georgia Avenue MetroExtra Line, Route 79
New running times will be implemented to reflect current traffic conditions along the route. Scheduled trip times will be adjusted slightly. See Routes 70, 71 for a description of additional changes due to construction of the new Silver Spring Transit Center.

H2, H3, H4 Crosstown Line
Scheduled weekday trip times will be changed to provide more recovery time at the ends of the line in order to improve service reliability.

W4 Deanwood-Alabama Avenue Line
The 5:33 a.m. weekday bus from Anacostia station will be changed to leave at 5:38 a.m. to make it easier for customers who want to get the first Green Line train to Branch Ave Metrorail station.

X6 National Arboretum Line
Service will be discontinued due to low ridership.
