Metro Transit Police searching for suspect wanted for felony 2nd degree sexual offense involving teenager

Dammons

Metro Transit Police (MTPD) are searching for Wayne Anthony DAMMONS, 26, of Southeast Washington, DC. DAMMONS is currently wanted on a felony charge of 2nd degree sexual offense, following an incident that allegedly occurred yesterday afternoon aboard a Red Line train.

The victim, a juvenile female, reported to police that she was riding aboard a Glenmont-bound Red Line train yesterday afternoon when she was approached by the suspect, later identified as DAMMONS, who sat next to her and asked for money. The suspect then began flirting with the victim and touching her in a sexual manner. Subsequently, the suspect exposed himself to the victim, prior to exiting the train at Glenmont Station.

The victim initially reported the incident to a trusted adult, who then notified MTPD. Detectives conducted an investigation lasting into the overnight hours that included reviewing camera footage from Red Line stations and aboard the railcar where the incident allegedly occurred.

A warrant for DAMMONS' arrest was obtained by MTPD detectives this afternoon.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect, or any other aspect of this case, is urged to contact the MTPD Criminal Investigations Division by calling (301) 955-5000 or sending a text message to “MyMTPD” (696873).
