Green Line capital improvement project begins tomorrow, two stations closed

Starting Saturday, August 5, Metro will begin a major capital improvement project on the Green Line that will result in Branch Ave and Suitland stations being closed through August 20, 2017. On the weekends of August 12-13 and 19-20, the work zone will extend to Southern Ave, closing Naylor Rd as well.

This weekend and on weekdays, Green Line service will be replaced by free shuttle buses between Branch Ave and Naylor Rd stations. Trains will operate at regular intervals outside the work area, however, customers traveling to/from the closed stations via shuttle buses should allow additional travel time.

This is the first of three major track work projects planned over the next year as part of Metro's new program of preventive maintenance and planned capital work announced last spring to maintain a state of good repair.
