Metrorail service information for Thanksgiving Day, November 25

On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, 2021, Metrorail service will continue to operate at reduced levels as Metro develops a test plan and restoration plan to return the 7000-series railcars to service. Trains will run from 7 a.m. until midnight, Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule and MetroAccess customers may make a reservation to travel on the holiday; however, subscription trips will be canceled.

In addition, Shady Grove and Rockville stations remain closed through mid-January, for canopy reconstruction and repairs. Free shuttle buses are available. View the Rockville Canopy Replacement Project page for additional details.

SERVICE INFORMATION

Metrorail: Service will operate from 7 a.m. until midnight and parking will be free at all Metro owned garages and parking lots. Trains will serve 89 of 91 stations as follows:

Red Line Trains every 12 minutes. Shady Grove and Rockville stations closed. Free shuttle buses provided between Shady Grove, Rockville and Twinbrook. Express shuttle buses will not operate on the holiday.

Blue LineOrange LineSilver Line Trains every 24 minutes. 

Yellow LineGreen Line Trains every 20 minutes.

Please note, at nearly 75 percent of stations, trains arrive at least every 10-12 minutes, as many stations are served by multiple lines. 

Before heading to the station, customers are encouraged to use Metro's Live Train Map to view real-time train arrival and departure information.  

Metrobus: Buses will operate on a Sunday schedule. Buses that do not normally operate on Sunday will not run. Schedules vary by route, check timetables for detailed schedule information. 

MetroAccess: Subscription trips will be canceled. Customers wishing to travel on the holiday should make a separate reservation online or by calling 301-562-5360 (TTY 301-588-7535).
