Metro Transit Police announce juvenile arrests in connection with multiple robberies, recover dozens of stolen phones

Juvenile Arrests in connection with robberiesMetro Transit Police today announced the overnight arrest of three juveniles in connection with multiple robberies on Metro. At the residence of one of the juveniles, police recovered more than 50 cell phones and cases, numerous SmarTrip® cards, U.S. currency, a pellet gun, and specialized tools used to dismantle smart phones.

So far, two of the three juveniles have each been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of conspiracy. The third juvenile has been charged with one count of robbery and one count of conspiracy.

MTPD detectives are sharing information with MPD and other local police departments to identify potential links to other open cases. Additional charges are expected.

Robberies on Metro are down more than 20 percent this year compared to the first half of 2017. Last year, Part I (serious) crime on Metro dropped to the lowest level in more than a decade.
