MTPD arrests Green Line shooting suspect

Green Line Shooting MTVS Arrest

Metro Transit Police today arrested the individual suspected of shooting another man aboard a Green Line train Saturday afternoon. Darius Marki Perry, 24, was taken into custody this morning at a residence in Seat Pleasant, MD, pursuant to a warrant for his arrest from DC Superior Court.

Perry is the individual accused of discharging a firearm inside of a railcar as the southbound train was traveling between Shaw-Howard and Mt Vernon Square stations. One victim, an adult male, was struck, sustaining injuries that were initially described as "life threatening."

The victim remains hospitalized as of this morning, although his condition has been upgraded to "stable."

Perry is currently being held in Prince George's County as a fugitive from justice, pending extradition to the District of Columbia, where he is expected to face charges of Aggravated Assault While Armed and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon – Gun. Both are felonies.

Officers from the Prince George's County Police and Seat Pleasant Police departments assisted in safely bringing Perry into custody this morning, and Metro Transit Police Chief Ron Pavlik expressed gratitude to both police agencies for their participation.

Following the arrest, MTPD detectives executed a search warrant at the residence to collect and preserve evidence related to the case.
