Metrobus will begin service on moderate snow plan tomorrow; Shuttle buses may replace trains between Largo and Benning Rd. for A.M. service

On Saturday, February 13, Metrobus will begin operations on a moderate snow service plan as freezing rain is forecast to impact the region. Customers are encouraged to travel only if necessary, and to consider traveling early in the day if possible. Further service reductions are possible if conditions become unsafe. 

Under a moderate snow service plan, service on some routes will be suspended and detours will be in effect on selected routes to avoid areas prone to hazardous conditions such as hilly terrain and narrow streets. Click here to see how your travel may be affected.

Metrorail service is expected to operate on a regular Saturday schedule. De-icer trains will be deployed throughout the system and heaters will be utilized to prevent ice buildup on third rails.

Crews will be working through the night to initiate the planned reconstruction of Addison Road Station. In the event this overnight work takes longer than planned, free shuttle buses will replace trains between Largo Town Center, Morgan Boulevard, Addison Road, Capital Heights, and Benning Road, connecting to Minnesota Avenue. Free shuttle buses between Rosslyn and Arlington Cemetery, which will be closed for platform reconstruction, will not operate tomorrow. Customers wishing to travel to Arlington Cemetery may board a free shuttle at Pentagon Station.

MetroAccess expects to provide normal service for its customers; however, some trips may experience delays due to road conditions throughout the region, and customers are encouraged to travel only if necessary.

Metro customers should allow additional travel time and use caution on platforms, escalators, parking lots and other areas that may be slippery.
