Metrorail open until 2 a.m. on New Year’s Eve

Metro will provide special late-night rail service on New Year's Eve to give revelers a safe and convenient travel option after the ball drops. Trains will continue running until 2 a.m. on all Metrorail lines.

Last train times vary by station and can be determined by adding one hour to "Saturday" last train times posted at station entrances and at wmata.com/stations.

Off-peak fares will be in effect during the extended service hours, and no track work is planned.

“To get the new decade off to a safe and celebratory start, Metro wants New Year's revelers to know that they can depend on Metro to get them home,” said Metro General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Paul J. Wiedefeld. “We're looking forward to the new decade ahead, and want thank our customers for making Metro their preferred way to move around the region.”

On New Year’s Day, Metrorail will open at 8 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. with trains operating on a Sunday/holiday schedule. No track work is planned.
