Metro announces holiday service information

On Saturday, December 23, and Sunday, December 24, most Metrorail lines will run on a regular weekend schedule. The only exception is the Red Line, where trains will run every 8-15 minutes as Metro's leak-mitigation project continues. Trains on the Orange, Blue, Silver, Green, and Yellow lines will operate on regular weekend schedules with no scheduled track work.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the Metrorail system will open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 11:00 p.m. Trains will operate on a Sunday schedule both days. Off-peak fares will be in effect, and parking will be free at Metro-operated facilities with the exception of a non-rider special event fee at Largo Town Center and Morgan Blvd for the football game on Sunday. Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule.

MetroAccess: Paratransit service will operate during the same hours as Metrorail and Metrobus. Subscription trips will be cancelled on Christmas Day unless the MetroAccess customer specifically requests to travel on the holiday.

On New Year's Eve, the Metrorail system will stay open three extra hours -- until 2 a.m. Off-peak fares will be in effect. Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule.
