Weekend service adjustments August 9-11 due to rebuilding

The advisory below has been updated to reflect normal Green Line service. Previously announced work affecting Greenbelt Station has been cancelled.

Construction of New Test Track at Greenbelt

Metro's multi-year rebuilding effort will continue over the weekend of August 9-11 with service adjustments beginning at 10 p.m. Friday night and continuing through system closing on Sunday.

Service on the Yellow and Green lines will operate on a regular weekend schedule. On the Red, Orange and Blue lines, trains will run every 20 minutes, rather than the usual 12 minutes, to allow for rebuilding work.  Additional trains will operate on the Red Line between Dupont Circle and NoMa-Gallaudet to provide more frequent service between those stations.

Metro is investing $5.5 billion to install new rail, ties, platforms, escalators, signals, lighting, communication systems, and more. It represents the largest capital investment -- and work effort -- since the system's original construction in the early 1970s.

Red Line Red Line 10 p.m. Fri., Aug. 9 through closing Sun., Aug. 11
