Metrorail to open at 5 a.m. on Saturday, March 16 for Rock 'n' Roll Marathon
Metrorail will open two hours early, at 5 a.m., on Saturday, March 16, for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon.
Marathon runners should use Federal Triangle or Smithsonian stations on the Blue and Orange lines to access the start line.
Saturday Metrorail service frequency
Shuttle buses replace trains between NoMa and Takoma. Red Line trains will operate in two segments: between Glenmont and Takoma, and between NoMa-Gallaudet and Shady Grove. Trains will operate every 10 minutes from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and every 15 minutes at other times. More info
Trains between Vienna and New Carrollton will operate every 24 minutes. Between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m., additional trains will operate between East Falls Church and Stadium-Armory, resulting in service about every 12-15 minutes between those stations.
Trains will operate every 12 minutes from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and every 15 minutes at other times. Stations served by combined Blue/Orange trains will see even more frequent service.
Trains will operate every 12 minutes from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and every 20 minutes at other times.
Trains will operate between Huntington and Fort Totten every 12 minutes from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and every 20 minutes at other times.

If using a paper farecard, please protect it from moisture during the race.
Be sure to load enough fare value on your SmarTrip or paper farecard for your entire roundtrip to avoid lines.
Arlington Cemetery Station will not open until 8:30 a.m.
The additional two hours of service is funded through an agreement with event organizers.
