Yellow Line: Rush+ service information

Metro is enhancing rush hour to serve more customers, reduce crowding and provide new transfer-free travel opportunities. It's all called Rush+ and it begins June 18, 2012.

Rush+ will improve service for nearly 110,000 customers on the Green, Yellow, Blue and Orange lines. Twenty-one stations will get more frequent service with six additional trains every hour of rush hour.

For 33,500 Blue and Yellow Line customers in Virginia, Rush+ will increase the share of Yellow Line trains, meaning more direct and faster access to downtown via the Yellow Line bridge.

Stations on the Green and Yellow lines from L'Enfant Plaza to Greenbelt will benefit from 18 additional trains during rush hour periods (six additional trains each peak hour, three in each direction). And for the first time, you will be able to travel from Greenbelt to Franconia-Springfield without transferring. More than 28,000 customers will benefit from the change.

Here is a station-by-station breakdown of the changes:

Huntington, Eisenhower Ave

Rush+ does not result in any service changes at these stations. They will be served by the same number of Yellow Line trains, operating between Huntington and Mt Vernon Sq.

King St-Old Town, Braddock Road, Reagan National Airport, Crystal City, Pentagon City, Pentagon

During rush hour, your station will be served by the same number of trains – but slightly more Yellow Line, and slightly fewer Blue Line trains.

Every hour of rush hour:

  • 3 new Yellow Line trains in each direction will provide more direct service to and from DC and Maryland.  These new trains will operate between Franconia-Springfield and Greenbelt.
  • 3 fewer Blue Line trains will operate in each direction.  Some customers may wait up to six additional minutes for a Blue Line train.  Bus service options also are available between Crystal City and Rosslyn.

L'Enfant Plaza, Archives, Gallery Place, Mt Vernon Sq, Shaw-Howard U, U Street, Columbia Heights, Georgia Ave-Petworth, Fort Totten, West Hyattsville, Prince George's Plaza, College Park, Greenbelt

Rush+ will mean more frequent train service at your station beginning June 18, 2012.

Every hour of rush hour:
