Detailed Information: On Inauguration Day, Metro provided about 1,120,000 rail trips, 423,000 bus trips and 1,721 MetroAccess trips for a total of 1,544,721 trips, the highest ridership day ever in the transit authority’s history. Unexpected Service Disruptions: 4:28 a.m. A Red Line train at Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood in the direction of Shady Grove was taken out of service because of a door problem, and customers were required to exit the train. 4:45 a.m. A Red Line train at Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood was taken out of service because of a door problem, and customers were required to exit the train. 4:52 a.m. A Blue Line train at King Street in the direction of Largo Town Center was delayed because of a door problem. 5:33 a.m. An Orange Line train at East Falls Church in the direction of New Carrollton was delayed because of a door problem. 6:23 a.m. An Orange Line train at Ballston in the direction of New Carrollton was delayed because of a sick customer who needed medical assistance. 6:30 a.m. A Red Line train at Brookland-CUA in the direction of Glenmont was taken out of service because of a mechanical problem, and customers were required to exit the train. The following train was taken out of service and used to push the disabled train to the rail yard. 6:36 a.m. A Red Line train at Metro Center was taken out of service because of a mechanical problem, and customers were required to exit the train. 6:47 a.m. An Orange Line train at East Falls Church in the direction of New Carrollton was taken out of service because of a door problem, and customers were required to exit the train. 7:09 a.m. A Red Line train at Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood in the direction of Shady Grove was taken out of service because of a mechanical problem, and customers were required to exit the train. 7:29 a.m. An Orange Line train at Ballston in the direction of New Carrollton was delayed because of a door problem. 7:31 a.m. A Red Line train at Grosvenor in the direction of Glenmont was taken out of service because of a mechanical problem, and customers were required to exit the train. 7:45 a.m. A Red Line train at Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood in the direction of Shady Grove was delayed because of a door problem. 7:49 a.m. A Green Line train at Anacostia in the direction of Greenbelt was taken out of service because of a door problem, and customers were required to exit the train. 8:15 a.m. A Blue Line train at Pentagon City in the direction of Largo Town Center was taken out of service because of a door problem, and customers were required to exit the train. 8:33 a.m. A Green Line train at Shaw-Howard U in the direction of Branch Ave was delayed because of a sick customer who needed medical assistance. 9:02 a.m. A Blue Line train at Rosslyn in the direction of Largo Town Center was delayed because of a sick customer who needed medical assistance. 9:30 a.m. A Red Line train at Gallery Pl-Chinatown in the direction of Glenmont was taken out of service after a woman fell onto the track. Red Line trains turned back at Farragut North and Judiciary Square Metrorail stations while emergency personnel responded to the scene. The woman was transported to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries. Normal service resumed around 10:15 a.m. at Gallery Pl-Chinatown and Metro Center stations. 11:09 a.m. A Red Line train at Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood in the direction of Glenmont was taken out of service because of a mechanical problem, and customers were required to exit the train. 11:36 a.m. A Red Line train at Union Station in the direction of Glenmont was taken out of service because of a mechanical problem, and customers were required to exit the train. 2:56 p.m. A Red Line train at Tenleytown-AU in the direction of Shady Grove was taken out of service because of a mechanical problem, and customers were required to exit the train. 4:12 p.m. A Red Line train at Grosvenor in the direction of Glenmont overran the platform but was able to service the station. 4:30 p.m. An Orange Line train at Virginia Sq-GMU in the direction of New Carrollton overran the platform but was able to service the station. 5:56 p.m. A Red Line train at Woodley Park-Zoo in the direction of Shady Grove was taken out of service because of a mechanical problem, and customers were required to exit the train. 6:24 p.m. An Orange Line train at Foggy Bottom-GWU in the direction of Vienna was taken out of service because of a door problem, and customers were required to exit the train. |
