Metrobus service to change on June 27, 2004

District of Columbia | Maryland | Virginia

Metrobus service will change on Sunday, June 27, 2004. Bus schedules will change on many routes throughout the region.

In addition to the schedule adjustments, D1 buses will begin at Ivy City and D5 buses will run more frequently in the mornings. In Maryland and Virginia, additional late night buses will be scheduled on some routes. On other routes, we’re adding buses to alleviate overcrowding.

These service changes are described in this brochure, and new timetables will appear in take-one racks soon. For more information, phone customer service at 202/637-7000 (TTY 202/638-3780).

District of Columbia

42 Mount Pleasant Line
Weekday, Saturday and Sunday schedules will change to reflect actual travel times. Please check the new timetable for bus times.

B2 Bladensburg Road Anacostia Line
Weekday, Saturday and Sunday schedules will change to reflect actual travel times. Please check the new timetable for bus times. The first northbound bus will be changed to begin at Anacostia station on weekdays and Saturdays. On Sunday nights, the last two northbound buses will be changed to end at Mount Rainier.

D1, D3, D6 Sibley Hospital-Stadium-Armory Line
The weekday schedule will change to reflect actual travel times. Please check the new timetable for bus times. In the afternoon peak hour, westbound D1 buses will be changed to begin at Ivy City instead of Union Station and will follow the D3 routing from that point to North Capitol Street and Massachusetts Avenue where the existing D1 routing will be resumed. On weekdays between 7 and 9 a.m., eastbound D6 buses will leave Sibley Hospital every 15 minutes. In the afternoon peak hour, D1 and D3 buses will run every 30 minutes.

D5 MacArthur Boulevard-Georgetown Line
Between 7:10 and 8:10 a.m., buses will be changed to run every 15 minutes in an effort to coordinate schedules with D6 buses along MacArthur Boulevard. The 4:29 p.m. bus from Farragut Square will leave at 4:24 p.m.

N2, N3, N4, N6 Massachusetts Avenue Line
The weekday schedule will change to reflect actual travel times. N2 and N4 buses will leave Farragut Square every nine minutes between 5 and 6 p.m. N2 and N4 buses will leave Friendship Heights every 12 minutes between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. N3 buses will leave Federal Triangle at 4:43, 5:11, 5:40 and 6:10 p.m.

Maryland

81, 82, 83, 86 College Park Line
Schedules will change to reflect actual travel times. 86 buses will now serve College Park-U of Md station. Buses will be rerouted to follow the 83 route along the east side of the train tracks via Paint Branch Parkway and River Road as requested by the City of College Park. An earlier 82 bus will be added to the schedule to run from Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood station to Mt. Rainier on weekend mornings.

C4 Greenbelt-Twinbrook Line
The Sunday schedule will be changed to reflect actual travel times. Please check the new timetable for bus times.

C12, C14 Hillcrest Heights Line
Buses will be changed to run every 25 minutes during peak hours. In addition, two earlier buses will run in the mornings and one later bus will run in the evenings.

D12, D13, D14 Oxon Hill-Suitland Line
The weekday schedule will change to reflect actual travel times. On weekdays, D13 and D14 buses will turn off of Suitland Road and run via Regency Parkway, Regency Lane and Hil Mar Drive to serve the new townhouse community.

On weekends, D14 buses will run direct via Suitland Road.

F4, F6 Prince George’s-Silver Spring Line
The weekday schedule will change to reflect actual travel times. Please check the new timetable for bus times.

F8 Prince George’s-Langley Park Line
Weekday, Saturday and Sunday schedules will change to reflect actual travel times. Please check the new timetable for specific bus times.

H11, H12, H13 Marlow Heights-Temple Hills Line
Weekday morning rush hour buses will be changed to run every 15 minutes. The weekday morning schedule also will change to reflect the change in travel times. Please check the new timetable for bus times.

J12 Marlboro Pike Line
On Friday nights, buses from Forestville at 1:01 and 2:01 a.m. and Addison Road-Seat Pleasant station at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 a.m. will be discontinued. On weeknights, the last buses will leave from Forestville at 11:48 p.m. and from Addison Road-Seat Pleasant station at 12:35 a.m.

K11, K12, K13 Forestville Line
Buses will be rerouted to bypass the roadway of Park Berkshire Apartments (now closed by management) that connects with Hil Mar Drive. Bus times also will change. Please check the new timetable for specific bus times. Buses going to Suitland station will follow the regular route to Hil Mar Drive and Park Berkshire roadway. Buses will continue via Hil Mar Drive, turn right on Regency Parkway, right on Surrey Square Lane and left on the Park Berkshire Apartments roadway opposite the entrance to Berkshire Elementary School.

From the station, buses will follow the reverse of this routing.

P17, P19 Oxon Hill-Fort Washington Line
The schedule will be changed to reflect actual travel times. Please check the new timetable for bus times.

R2 Riggs Road Line
The schedule will be changed to reflect actual travel times. Please check the new timetable for bus times.

R3 Greenbelt-Fort Totten Line
The Saturday schedule will change to coordinate bus times with R2 buses. Check the new timetable for bus times.

V11 District Heights-Suitland Line
On Saturdays, the 6:42 a.m. bus from Addison Road-Seat Pleasant station will be changed to leave three minutes earlier—at 6:39 a.m.—and arrive at Potomac Ave station at 7:03 a.m.

Virginia

3A Lee Highway Line
The eastbound routing via Backlick Road and Maple Place will be discontinued due to traffic congestion at Little River Turnpike (Rt. 236) and Backlick Road. Buses will leave Patriot and Americana drives one minute later than currently scheduled and will run via Rt. 236 eastbound to Annandale Road, then turn left on Annandale Road and continue northbound on Annandale Road to Maple Place. Two stops will be discontinued on Maple Place between Columbia Pike and Annandale Road. Customers may use a new stop on northbound Annandale Road on the far side of Rt. 236 or the stop on northbound Annandale Road at Markham Street.

7A-X Lincolnia-North Fairlington Line
The weekday schedule will change to reflect the actual travel times. Please check the new timetable for bus times.

9A Richmond Highway Line
The 50¢ Fairfax County only reduced fare will be discontinued. Regular fares will apply on all 9A buses between Lorton, Fort Belvoir and the Pentagon.

11Y Mount Vernon Express Line
The weekday morning schedule will change to reflect actual travel times. Please check the new timetable for specific bus times.

16A, 16B, 16D, 16E, 16F, 16J Columbia Pike Line
The 8:58 a.m. weekday bus from Culmore (Glen Carlyn and Vista drives) will be discontinued. The 8:48 a.m. weekday 16J bus from Culmore will be changed to leave at 8:54 a.m.

Weekday 16B and 16E buses which leave the Pentagon after 10:45 p.m. will be changed to leave two to eight minutes later to coordinate with southbound Blue Line train arrivals.

The 16E bus which leaves Culmore weeknights at 12:34 a.m. and the Friday only bus which leaves at 1:34 a.m. will be changed to leave at 12:38 and 1:36 a.m.

16G,16H,16W Columbia Heights West-Pentagon City Line
Bus times will change for 16G buses which run on weekdays after 5:15 p.m. in the Columbia Heights West area.

A new 16H bus will leave Four Mile Run Drive and Columbia Pike at 8:54 a.m. weekdays. 16W buses will be rerouted to run via George Mason Drive in both directions between Columbia Pike and Four Mile Run Drive.

16H and 22A buses will be changed to run on Four Mile Run Drive between Columbia Pike and George Mason Drive.

One additional 16W bus will leave Skyline City at 9 a.m. on weekdays.

22B Pentagon-Army-Navy Drive-Shirley Park Line
Metro will continue to run this service.

16Y Express bus schedule
