General Tips & Information
- Purchase round-trip fares in advance. One Day Passes are $7.80 through Monday, January 19 and $10 on Inauguration Day. Each passenger must have his or her own farecard or SmarTrip® card.
- Expect delays within the Metrorail, Metrobus, and MetroAccess systems, particularly on Inauguration Day.
- Bicycles are prohibited within the Metrorail system.
- There is no overnight or reserved parking at Metro-operated lots.

Saturday, January 17
Metrobus |
- Buses follow the regular Saturday schedule.
- Extra buses run to and from Marshall-BWI and Dulles Airports. Expect crowding on the B30 (Marshall-BWI) and 5A (Dulles) lines.

- Stations are open regular Saturday hours: 7 am to 3 am.
- Non-peak fares are in effect all day until 2 am.

Sunday, January 18
Metrobus |

Monday, January 19
Metrobus |
- Buses run on a Sunday schedule.
- Extra buses run to and from Dulles and Marshall-BWI Airports. Expect crowding on the B30 (Marshall-BWI) and 5A (Dulles) lines.
- Roads begin closing at 3 pm. For specific information, see Street Closures on the District of Columbia site.

- Stations are open from 5 am to 2 am.
- Non-peak fares are in effect all day.
- This is the last day to purchase One Day Passes for $7.80 in advance. One Day Passes will be $10 on Inauguration Day.

- All 50,000+ parking spaces are available for free.
- Cars must be out of Metrorail lots by 11 pm. Any cars remaining in Metrorail lots after this time risk being ticketed or towed.

Tuesday, January 20
Metrobus |
- Buses run on a modified weekday schedule.
- Extra buses run to and from Dulles and Marshall-BWI Airports. Expect crowding on the B30 (Marshall-BWI) and 5A (Dulles) lines.
- From 4 am to 9 pm, 23 special rapid bus corridors operate. $5 all day bus passes are available upon boarding.
- Numerous street and bridge closures are in effect. View closures and other restrictions.

| Metrorail |
- The Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter and Smithsonian stations are closed from 4 am until after the parade.
- The Mt Vernon Sq 7th St-Convention Center station closes at 7:30 am. This means that trains will not stop at the station, but trains will be able to travel through it to and from Fort Totten Metrorail station during the off-peak hours.
- The Judiciary Square station closes at 4 pm.
- Restrooms in Metrorail stations are closed. 150 portable restrooms are available at key stations.
- Stations are open from 4 am to 2 am.
- Trains operate 17 hours of rush hour service, from 4 am to 9 pm. Peak fares will be in effect during these hours. Non-peak fares will be in effect from 9 pm until closing.
- Select stations, as well as some entrances at other stations, will be designated as either entry- or exit-only. View these stations.
- Station escalators may be turned off to help regulate the large crowds. For detailed information on individual stations, go to the Stations page and select the station of interest.
- One Day Passes cost $10.

- There is limited door-to-door service, particularly in the downtown core.

- 50,000+ parking spaces are available for $4 cash only.
- Lots open at 3:30 am, but expect them to fill up quickly.
- Charter buses traveling into the District must have a special trip permit from the District and a pre-purchased parking permit.
