Naylor Road Station Pod Trees for Naylor Road, 2002
Robert Cole
Stainless steel sculpture
Pod Trees for Naylor Road, by Washington, D.C. artist Robert Cole, is located at Naylor Road station on the Green Line in Prince George's County, Maryland. The two 15-foot-high stainless steel hand-forged trees with machine-spun pods pay homage to the surrounding landscape. The community wanted the artist, who is known for his superb forged metal techniques, to create a work of art that reintroduced elements of nature into the built environment of the station. The two uniquely crafted trees gracefully flank the station entrance.
