NOTICE: Do not download SmartBenefits to your SmarTrip card if you plan to use: a van pool, MARC, VRE , D&B Bus/Quick's Commuter Service, CommuterDirect.com or Arlington County Commuter stores.

Van pool operators, van pool passengers, D & B Bus/Quick's Commuter Service passengers, and VRE riders can switch fare payments from paper Metrocheks to electronic SmartBenefits®. It’s done via the Internet.

Van pool operators who currently participate in the Metrochek program register their van pool in the online WMATA SmartBenefits® van pool operators program. Van pool passengers who participate in their employer’s SmartBenefits® program will allocate their van pool fare payments directly into their van operator’s designated bank account via the Internet.

D & B Bus/Quick's Commuter Service passengers can allocate their monthly benefit towards the cost of their monthly pass by using the SmartBenefits® Passenger Allocation process.

VRE riders can allocate their monthly benefit to CommuterDirect.com to have their VRE tickets mailed to their home or you can go to an Arlington County Commuter store to pick up your VRE tickets monthly. VRE will mail your tickets FREE until September 2008. This eliminates the need to use paper Metrocheks!
