Representatives from the Media Relations Office assist the media by providing information about the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro) and the operations of Metrorail and Metrobus. As we work with you, we make every effort to work within your deadlines.
All requests for interviews with Metro employees should be made to the Media Relations Office by calling 202-962-1051. We will try to provide a representative who can best address the topic of the interview.
Filming is permitted at most Metro stations. It is important to remember that the primary role of WMATA is to move people, and that our customers come first. We will work with you to determine a time when the impact on the public is minimal.
See additional details on filming in the Metro system and using Metro's intellectual property. To discuss your particular needs, please contact Taryn McNeil in Metro's Media Relations Office at 202-962-1219, fax 202-962-2897, or tmcneil@wmata.com.
It is our policy to share information on serious incidents with the media as soon as possible. We also are eager to provide you with updates as more information on serious incidents becomes available to us.
In the event of a serious rail or bus incident or a police incident, you can reach us by pager on weekends and in the evenings or at the office during business hours Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To request our pager number, please call the office during regular business hours at 202-962-1051.
We welcome you to observe meetings of our Board of Directors and committee meetings that are open to the public. You may film and/or record these meetings. We will gladly assist you with placement of cameras and microphones as needed.
Call our Media Relations Update Phone Line at 202-962-1055 in order to hear a recorded message about upcoming board meetings, details about board meeting agendas, and a list of upcoming public meetings.
