Metro to celebrate grand opening of new M Shop retail store

Ever want a Metro-branded gift, t-shirt or souvenir with the iconic Metro map? You’ll now be able to take home the iconic Metro brand at M Shop, Metro’s brand new pop-up retail store conveniently located at Metro Center Station. 

Metro will celebrate the grand opening of M Shop tomorrow (Wednesday, March 7, 2018) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The store is located inside Metro Center near the entrance at 12th and F streets. 

M Shop will have something for just about everyone including apparel, tote bags, mugs, maps, backpacks, and other memorabilia displaying the iconic Metro brand.

“This is a great opportunity for people to get something unique from Metro, whether you are a visitor looking for a souvenir or an everyday rider,” said Metro General Manager/CEO Paul J. Wiedefeld “At the same time, M Shop represents another potential source of revenue to help support Metrorail and Metrobus operations.” 

"The Metro system is a recognizable landmark for visitors from around the world," said Jawauna Greene, Metro's Senior Director of Marketing. "M Shop lets them take the iconic Metro brand home with them."

Metro added that M Shop also represents a "proof of concept" to demonstrate how retail shops might be executed in Metro stations to generate additional revenue.

The public is invited to stop by the grand opening celebration and join in the festivities. The store will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
