About media relations
The Office of Media Relations wants to respond promptly and completely to news media inquiries. Above all, we want to ensure that the information furnished is accurate.
If you are a member of the working press and have an inquiry concerning general company issues including policy, rail, bus and paratransit service, federal government relations, labor, law, safety, marketing, real estate, and filming requests, you can contact one of these staff members at 202-962-1051:
Lisa Farbstein, Director of Public Relations
Candace Smith, Public Affairs Officer
Steven Taubenkibel, Public Affairs
Specialist
Cathy Asato, Information Specialist
Angela Gates, Information Specialist
Taryn McNeil, Public Affairs
Coordinator
The Office of Media Relations also acts as the office of the press secretary for the GM/CEO and other key Metro officials.
In addition, all media calls to any Metro employee about Metro business and issues are required to go through the Office of Media Relations first. If you are a member of the working media and will need to contact a Metro spokesperson after hours or on weekends, please call our office number between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to receive the appropriate after-hours number. For breaking news, you can also call Metro's Medialine at 202-962-2007.
For non-media issues, please call Metro's customer service line at 202-637-1328. A working press room with telephones, work stations and computer access is located adjacent to the Metro Board Meeting Rooms on the lobby level of the Jackson Graham Metro Headquarters Building, 600 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001. The press room is open for reporters to use every Thursday before, during and after weekly Board meetings and Board committee meetings.
