Takoma Metrorail station community planning session
On March 4, 2006 WMATA held a participatory planning session to solicit community input on a proposed joint development project at the Takoma Metrorail Station. WMATA was very pleased with the turnout and the wealth of ideas coming out of the session. A report on the planning session is now available.
Over the next several weeks WMATA will review the community's input and ideas and, where feasible, incorporate them into the proposed site plan.
Prior to developing the site, WMATA will conduct a Compact Public Hearing. This hearing will be an opportunity for individuals to provide formal comment on the proposed amendment to WMATA's mass transit plan. Based on testimony given at the public hearing or provided during the comment period the WMATA Board will either approve or disapprove the proposed mass transit plan amendment. In addition to the testimony provided at the Compact Public Hearing, a summary of the input provided at the planning session will be presented to the WMATA Board at the Compact Public Hearing for the Takoma Metrorail Station Joint Development.
WMATA will post the date, time, and location on our website as soon as the Compact Hearing is scheduled.
