Dawn and Dusk, by Maryland artist Heidi Lippman in collaboration with architect Ben Van Dusen, is located at the New Carrollton Station Garage on the Orange Line in Prince George's County, Maryland. The mosaic and stone brush-stroke like imagery wrap the garage's stair, the elevator towers and a free-standing clock, transforming them into spirited pillars of brilliant color reminiscent of skylight at dawn and dusk. The composition and colors of the frieze soften the garage's structural geometry and animate the architecture and the site. Dawn and Dusk was fabricated by Franz Mayer of Munich. | ||||
