Largo Beacon, by Philadelphia artist Ray King, will be located at Largo Town Center station on the Blue Line in Prince George's County, Maryland. The sculpture was designed to function as a beacon for the station and the Largo community. The stainless steel and laminated holographic glass sphere will be mounted on a concrete base. The 35-foot-tall sculpture will be installed on the station plaza facing the Sun in the south meridian to maximize the chromatic range of the glass panels. The geometry of the artwork complements the new design program for Metrorail stations. Largo Town Center station opens in 2004. | ||||
